Water of Life

God's grace is sufficient for me!

His grace has set me free!

The Apostle Paul was not always a fan of Jesus Christ. In fact, prior to his conversion listed in the book of Acts, he was called Saul, and he was a persecuter of the followers of Christ.

In Acts 9:1-9 it reads:

1  And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest,

2  And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.

3  And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:

4  And he fell to earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul why persecutest thou me?

5  And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.

6  And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do.

7  And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.

8  And Saul arose from the earth; and when his eyes were opened, he saw no man: but they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus.

9  And he was there three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink.

As the story goes, Christ told one of his followers, Ananias, to heal Saul of the blindness.  Saul was then baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost.

The grace and peace of Christ is ever present in this story.  The physical blinding of Saul reminds us of the blind rage that Saul lived with, when he lived a life of hatred towards others.  The healing and restoration of his sight shows us that his eyes were opened to the glory of the Lord.  Just as God gave healing and restoration to Saul, He gives it to us in our lives.

Hatred and envy are not of the fruit of the spirit; but love and peace are two of the fruit of the spirit.

Just as God's grace is present in this story, it is also present in our lives!  Think about a time that God has given you grace and mercy in a situation in your home or on the job.

Think about a time when the favor of God, which is His grace, came to you when you least expected.

Share a good word with someone today.  Tell someone of how God's grace and mercy have helped you.  Be an encourager to others!

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me!  I once was lost but now am found!  Was blind but now I see!

May the grace and peace of our Lord and Savoir Jesus Christ be with you today and always!
